Water safety

Let’s keep all those on our lakes safe!

The Association received a report of someone struck by a watercraft while swimming close to their dock.

As the OPP reminded us at an AGM a few years ago, the speed limit for boats is 10 km/h within 100 feet (or 30 metres) of the shore. That’s a slow crawl– joggers run that speed! Not only does this protect swimmers, but it reduces wake damage to docks and shorelines, and nesting wildlife.

Swimmers and water skiiers– remember to stay visible, there is a lot of traffic on our lakes and it can be hard for boaters to see everything in their path.

Thanks to everyone for doing their part!
